Owner
Ro works very hard on the site, to make it feel he can get the best out of it. Ever since the site opened (which was not long ago at all), there have already been massive changes occurring on the main pages and mostly the site pages. For one thing, the site changed its layout very recently to give it an eye-catching appeal. There is more about the layout in the next section. The cbox on the side makes it addictive to talk, as the owner is always extremely kind and welcoming to any who visit. She must take pride in the guests she gets, and needs to realise that the work on the site is fantastic, and should not under-estimate what the site has achieved even in it's early days!

Layout
The layout is encouraging also. The site first started with a plain layout, which was nice, but for what the site was becoming, it was needed something a little more. And so, not long ago, the desktop theme was changed completely, adding a particuarly professional look it. The main part now has a white background, making it exeptionally easy to view. One aspect that I do love is that on every page, including the Homepage, there is a little banenr, under the main one, showing what page you are on. As the banner does not change for each page, this is useful, but the main benefit mostly is that it looks good! The very top sides are blue, giving it that extra touch, as well as slightly grey sides below the blue. With the banner, colours and a neat and organised design, this is a very promising part of the site as a whole.

News Posts
Although there isn't a large amount of news posted on Children of Tardis, they look and are great when they are put on! There are new updates everyday, mostly, and there acm be one or two posts. Maybe there should be a few more of these, as they are done brilliantly! The posts cn be foudn on the main page under the welcome message, which means that it isn't possible to rea the new without being welcomed by the owner, which is pleasurable. Most posts have a picture with them, apart from the ones with a video included, and contain enough information written in original words, and also thanks the reading for viewing it, so all in all the atmosphere is tremendously friendly. So, just a bit more general and possibly merchandise pieces, and then I wouldn't know what more to ask for on the whole site!

Spelling and Grammar
It is so satisfying to see that one mistake cannot even be made, as it is definitely very hard to spot one error of any sort. Structure is superb, to posts and pages all round the site. No more tosay really. Just keep on doing what you're doing, and everything will be great.

Pages
From the word go, the site had started its magnificent pages, which is intriguing, as most sites wait for a while before they do. Ro must have been determined to put them up as soon as the site became avaliable. There are many to choose from, and they are being updated as we speak. I will talk about each in sections;
  • My Word! starts it off, and you may have already realised that the owner is writing it to talk about any news and anything she wants to say to visitors about the site. There isn't much on there yet, but there need not be. I very much like all the features in the sidebars of each page. Some link to different parts of the site, while other show videos and much more! Excellent! Links contain various different, well, links, to many other sites, official or not, and even includes some banners instead of just writing, which looks very good.
  • Videos gives us a chance to see many Doctor Who-related videos, but one suggestion might be that instead of putting them all in the sidebar (except one), possibly put links to them in posts on the sidebar. Moving on, Magazines. This page takes a look at the three tremendous magazines you can buy. They contain the cover and price, but unfortunately no information, apart from the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine. Possibly it should? I don't no!
  • Read all about the top Time Lord in the page called 'The Doctor', including all facts and incarnations. Companions is mostly the same, but it's all about the friends the Doctor has had in his life, that we have seen anyway. This is great, but I'm not sure for these pages, will they in the future contian a little information about each person, or just name them? Well, that's up to you. Just wondering. Books provides all the latest stories of what the Doctor gets up to when not on telly. This names all the books, and recent posts have synopses and prices.
  • The Sarah Jane Adventures has a list and pictures of the children's spin-off show, including cast. Again, in the future, should the be more information, like episode guides? The Torchwood page is still under construction when I am writing this. I presume that will be like the Sarah jane page, more or less.
  • The Classic Series page is fantastically useful when you want to see pictures and read about the new figures from Character. Up to date with the information on the second wave, great! And finally we have the E-Books. What a highlight! Amazing stories, of which the first is caleld The Empty Moon, and is part of the Children of Tardis Chronicles. If you ever go on the site, pelase don't leave without reading these, because there is no doubt that you won't enjoy them. One problem is that it's quite and long way and is a bit confusing getting into the book to read it, but this is no problem. All in all, that is actually quite exciting!

Sidebar
With a brilliant site comes a brilliant sidebar! It starts after a flashing sign saying 'Who Is the Next Doctor?'. Well, at this stage we don't know, so moving on. The site team are mentioned, including two people, the owner on it, of course. A useful feature is the Contact Me option, allowing the visitors to contact the owners, privately. Children of Tardis has alrwady recieved many, many visitors, with already a total of over 2300, according to the counter. Something no other site has done this well is the 'Coming Soon' part. This tells you every aspect of Doctor Who that will be comign soon, mostly. It has magazines, episodes (with videos), books, DVDs, the lot. Well Done for this! The chat box is great for communicating with anybody who reads it, but should it not be above Coming Soon... so we can see it properly? There is also a lot of followers, well, following. Eighteen already, which is exceptional! Then a copyright notice that is quite... entertaining? Ok, I'll stick with that!

Other Features
Banner; The banner is white and has pictures from The Next Doctor, plus the Doctor Who and Children of Tardis' Logo. It looks very relaxed and great, and not full of action.

Our Key Suggestions...
  • More posts
  • Remove archive gadget from pages!
  • More information of pages
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
Evr since this site started, it has been top quality work, and it stands out at you as soon as you click onto it. Work like you keep doing, and I can see this site as a major achievement!

Doctor Who and SJA

Info

Web Host: Blogger
Run by: SJA
Opened: 12th October 2008

Review

Owner
The owner, SJA, obviously takes pride in the visitors that come to the site, whether it be newcomers or frequent visitors. They talk on the cbox often, which is great for interacting with the guests. They put quite a lot of work into the site, which is pleasing, and trying to make everything mostly right, and the language used throughout makes it an affable place to spend your time. One downside might be that the owner doesn't check some of the things they write, and so mistakes crop up every now and then, but this is not hard to adjust. Another thing also might be that possibly the owner could come up with things that are completely their idea, and not from other sites. This is clear to see in posts on the main page, and its pages.

Layout
A very bold design makes Doctor Who and SJA a pleasurable place to visit. It stands out well, and thankfully looks fantastic. With a few tidies up in posts and the sidebar, it can be even better! The main part has a grey background with mostly light grey text, which works well, but is this just a Christmas layout, as unfortunately it does look a bit dull, as there aren't many colour variations. The sides are white, but, with a few more colours, it might start to look a bit better going into January. Pictures do bring it to life though.

News Posts
The posts on the main page are starting to become more frequent, which is great, as the site is now becoming more reliable with more of them. They are good posts, and always contain a picture. There is just one negative point, before most of the positive ones, though. Some posts and pictures are off other sites, which shows that the owner is quite lazy in making their own news and writing it. The latest posts though, are a lot better, which shows that the site is steadily improving. One other point is that the pictures look a tad untidy, because there is no plan on how big each one will be, and so every single one is different. I'm not saying that they all need to appear the same size, but they could be anywhere. I think I need to see a few more posts to make my final view on the matter.

Spelling and Grammar
Every now and again, you are able to spot errors, but these are definitely nothing too big, which is reassuring. Unfortunately, they are not just in the posts. Like, on the sidebar it says 'threatin', instead of 'threaten', so we just need to see a bit more care gone into things, and more checking over. Grammar is mostly fine, but more structure to posts would bring out more in the site, like it has the potential to achieve. There are a few sentences, which need a few more words to make proper sense, but this can very easily be sorted out.

Pages
The owner has clearly just started thinking about pages for the site. At the moment, the links to these are marked at the top of the site, and in good colours, to see them better. There are two extra open at the moment, except that there are many that are put down, either in progress or planning, which should be up soon enough.
  • Christmas is the page all about the festive time of year of that very name. There isn't a lot on it at the moment, but there are pictures and videos. Plus some Christmas lights at the top, which just give it that extra touch of sparkle. But this, again, is another factor that they could have made up themselves, rather than getting the whole idea from one specific site. Hopefully, there will be things the owner has thought of nearer Christmas.
  • The other page is the Site Banners feature. This allows visitors who own a site of their own to ask for a banner to be personally made for that site. This is a new thing that sites are now doing, and is a great thing to be doing. There are two images up at the moment, and at first glance, look rather good!
I'm very much looking forward to the new pages coming soon.

Sidebar
A few brief facts at the top of the sidebar prove useful to those who want a bit of information, without looking too deeply into the site. The page hits are reasonably good, and should go up more and more as the site grows. The cbox feature allows you to communicate with the owner and anyone who visits the site and just above that is a picture of the next Doctor Who episode. Being a site with Sarah Jane Adventures also in the title, shouldn't they also have the next SJA? There is a poll usually up, to cast your thoughts onto a certain topic. Then you can definitely tell that the owner is a fan of Doctor Who (if you didn't already), with a picture that he owner of Doctor Who Fansite made for everyone who wants to put it on their site. Still in its early days, it's amazing how many followers the site has already gained, which is delightful! And then you have Quote of the Week. One possibility for the sidebar could be the archive, so visitors can have links back to older news.

Other Features
Banner; The banner certainly shows what the site is supposed to be based around. Doctor Who and SJA, and so it has the Doctor on the left and Sarah Jane on the right, plus the two logos, linking them together with an 'and', which in the end makes up the title of the site. Genius!

Our Key Suggestions...
  • Take care with spelling and apply more structure to posts
  • Put more features into the sidebar
  • Sort colours
  • Have more own ideas
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
Doctor Who and SJA has working potential, and I'm sure that after reading this, there may be a few changes, to make the site better, without too many errors and new features, but at the moment, a good start.

Doctor Who - The Blog

Owner
JP is always talking on the site's cbox, all the time, everyday... Visitors feel very welcome to the site, and makes it a very friendly atmosphere, which is always what you want with any site. And in the posts, the formal text and layout also has the same effect. The site has just started, and you can see the the owner has been working very hard, making posts and also adding new features to the site, even at this stage!

Layout
Of course, the site still needs time to develop and adjust the design, but for the moment, on the whole, everything looks clear and neat. The background is black, with various different colours, on pictures and on text, but it does unfortunately look a bit dull with some of these colours, but this can be sorted easily.

News Posts
This is one of those sites which just posts, and posts... and posts! Even thought the site has been open for just three quarters of a month, an amazing 100 posts have just been reached! When the site first started, the posts weren't really of that good quality, but it has developed a lot since then. Instead of mostly just posting news about what's going on with the site, and the, what seems like hundreds of banners, the standard is much higher. This may possibly be as the site is starting to settle in, and seen other sites, thinking what the could try to achieve. Recently, there has been news appearing on the site about the Christmas special. Most reports come with a picture to help the post be clearer. There isn't a lot of detail and information in them, but there is enough to be getting on with.

Spelling and Grammar
I have spotted a few mistakes on the site, but this is nothing too major, and can't really be helped sometimes. The structure to each post is varied. Sometimes, it seems like the owner knows exactly what they're going to say, while at other time, it doesn't. This means that posts are always different from one another.

Pages
Just very recently, a few brand new extras have been added on. They all have a different layout to the homepage, and is white, and possibly looks better than the main page's. They all have a unique banner made for the page, and they all look different, but maybe a bit too different, showing no link between them. They also don't have links to each other page, which is a little annoying when you want to go somewhere else, without going back onto the hompage. But these are just minor points.
  • Apart from the main page, there are the Tardis files, a place to learn about characters, planets and any other objects the owner writes about. As they've just stated now, one file shall be posted every week. They have good detail and facts, and look good as well.
  • A bigger thing is the Ten Doctors series and the Clashes series, which are stories the owner has written. They are long enough for a good read, and are actually excellent for fan-made stories. The Ten Doctors is written in different parts, and Clashes is a very clever feature. This a a definite highlight for the site, which you should check out!
  • The site has started banner designs, and what you have to do with this is just ask for a banner for your own site, and the owner shall make you one. We have not seen any of them yet, but it will be nice to in the future.
  • Links provide a very good source of information if you want more than the site has got...

Sidebar
The sidebar is always getting updated, for new features, and things getting taken down. At the top is a tiny portion of information telling you when the site opened, but I think if they are going to bother putting this up, put more information up, so it looks better.  Below that is something that is called 'Table of Contents', which simply links all the sites pages into one, which is useful. There is a TV Guide, but it is a picture. it looks slightly messy, as parts of letters go off the side of it, but it is not a big deal. Already, the site has won an award, from The Bad Wolf TV, which is excellent. The award is for 'Most up-t0-date' Blog, which it sure is! The site has amazingly gained quite a number of followers. Nine, to be exact, which is fantastic already! I won't go into the poll below that, because it's... well... And then we have a picture of some Daleks and saying 2009. Does this mean that JP thinks the Daleks will be appearing next year? And the cbox below that is used very frequently, and then you can get to all your favourite posts with the archive.

Other Features
Banner; The banner is periodically changed, and at the moment shows many Cybermen in different ways, and looks quite good, even though a bit blurry. Maybe the owner should think about developing a really good banner, and then have it up on the site for longer.

atts key suggestions
  • Have a think about colours and layout
  • Tidy pages
  • Posts with more detail (possibly)
  • More structure to posts
  • Tidy Sidebar
  • Put a banner up for longer
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
A site with working progress, but at the moment is doing very well, just a few factors that need sorting.

Doctor Who Fansite

Web Host: Blogger (+ Piczo)
Run by: thedoctorwho07
Opened: May 2008

Review

Owner
The owner of Doctor Who Fansite, thedoctorwho07, is always polite and welcoming to new and regular visitors. He isn't always talking on the site's cbox as frequently as he used to, but it does not matter, because you can see the amount of hard work they're putting into the site. The fansite is growing quite rapidly, with new pages and features being added on as we speak, that the owner is providing for us, making the site much bigger and better than it used to be.

Layout
A first look at the site, and you may think the black background is pretty boring. You thought wrong. Even though it looks simple, the dark colour looks amazing, and helps make everything stand out clearly, and definitely professionally. You cannot even see the joins around the banner because the background of that is also black, which, in fact looks great. If you had different colours for each bit, it wouldn't work so well. Ther pages are displayed at the top, very clearly and in a lasrg font to see them. And they're not just writing, they're linked pictures, which you wouldn't be able to tell at first glance. In fact, it looks like it is part of the banner! Titles of posts are in red, and stand out perfectly. The sidebar is neat and tidy, which makes the site fantastic to look at, drawing a very large amount of visitors. This could be one of the main highlights to the site.

News Posts
Posts are not as frequent as you might expect, with such a good site, but the posts that are made are the top news, and also interesting news that you may not find in other places, sometimes. The quality of each one, as a matter of fact, makes up for this loss. Each post has a fantastic bright rectangle picture, made by the owner. With some great picture editing tools, they stand out really well and look amazing! There is a clear notice on each explaining that you are not allowed to use them in any way. The text covers much of the information you need on a certain topic, and quotes or press releases are clearly marked in a different colour. When pictures are needed in posts, extra ones, apart from the main one at the top, are put on. If there is new the owner want to publish, they are quick to do so, which makes it realible and always up-to-date.

Spelling and Grammar
The spelling and grammar on the site is perfect in nerly every way. I can hardly spot a mistake, and that means on the normal posts, sidebar and pages! The owner always thinks about his posts and pages rather than going straight into them , whch means that they are well structured and very enjoyable!

Pages
Pages are quite a new thing at Doctor Who Fansite. Many hve opened in the past few weeks/months, and now their links have a home at the top of the page. Each one has a superb banner, which shows an up close picture of the Doctor Who logo, with some editing to make it look even better. The logo for the site is placed in the middle of each one, and the name of the page in the bottom left hand corner. It looks very clear and fitting. The pages are linked below that, just like on the main page, but when new pages open, the links do not change, so that could be sorted.
  • Plamet Files has very recently opened, and has every single planet mentioned or seen in all three shows; Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. This is a great achievement, as there are so many different ones, and to go through all that trouble in finding them. They are not detailed, though, but just tell you a bit about each one. I don't think this should be changed, as there would just be too much information, when there are so many files!
  • There is a page devoted to spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures. This covers Monster Files, Episode Guides, Character Files and Videos. They have fantastic pictures to go with them. All episodes have their guides, with a bit of inormation on the story. The files are brilliant, as they tell you loads of information about enemies and friends in the show. And then the vidoes have every trailer from both series.
  • There is a great selection of links on the page of that name. It does not have every link, but enough to keep you going.
  • Adventures In Time and Space is a fan-made series, made by the owner. They are videos, which has figures and monsters with great sets and landscapes, with wording put on for each character. They have Doctor Who music that fits each scene, and they are quite good! This is a marvellous part of the site, because not many people have come up with it, so is very unique. My only concern is how many people tend to watch them, as no-one has commented.
  • The Advent Calendar is the Christmas page, and is hosted on Piczo. The graphics are amazing, and all the features should be amazing when it gets to the 1st of December. Each day has a hexagonal panel from the interior of the Tardis. This should be a big hit nearer Christmas time.

Sidebar
A wonderful sidebar for a wonderful site! The hit counter is presented at the top, and it just proves that there are many people that come on the site each day. Since starting from August, there are already over 13000 page hits! The site has just started putting videos in the sidebar, at the moment showing trailers and previews for Whi-releated shows. There is usually a poll going, and followers are shown below this. There are quite a few followers, which is pleasing. The box is used often, and rules are clearly stated above it. This is good so there isn't anything unpleasant to look at. A spinning Max Capricorn Cruiseliners logo is diplayed under this, which shows that the site is alive, and not stationary. Under that is a Youtube link to the owners account, and he has made many amazing videos which you should definitely check out! There is a picture of a Cyberman and three awards the site has won. You can then suscribe or add a sign saying 'I'm a fan of Doctor Who... Are You?', to your site. Have a look at old posts under there and then a splendid part are the spin-off sites. These are sites which are not official, but have relations to things in the Whoniverse, and treat is as if it is real, and not just a TV programme.

Other Features
Banner; The banner for Doctor Who Fansite is changed quite a lot, and always shwos the logo. At the moment is shows pictures to promote the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, which is on at the moment.

atts key suggestions
  • More frequent news posts
  • Sort out page links in the pages
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
Just the name of the site, Doctor Who Fansite, just proves that it is where any Doctor Who fan should be heading, and when they do, they will be thoroughly greeted by the many amazing features and news it has to offer!

The Avatar Proclamation

Info

Web Host: Piczo
Run by: Bex and Will
Opened: November 2008

Review

Owners
The Avatar Proclamation has two owners who made the site and run it. The hard work they put into the many, many avatars they produce is amazing! They must have gone to great lengths and several weeks of work to produce it and that has definitely payed off! Bex and Will are both very attentive in the site's chat box. Many visitors have left friendly comments, explaining how much they like the site, and I think it encourages the owners, making them feel that they have achieved something big.

Layout
The layout for The Avatar Proclamation is actually a very good design, and works perfectly well with the site. The main colours are grey and blue, with a few different shades of blue. This doesn't make it too dull and attracts you to the site, because it actually looks very good! There isn't a lot of content shown on the page, but it really is just an avatar site, with not much else, but there could be more on the main page in the near future. One minor problem is that there are a few words behind and on pictures, which could be slightly tidied, so it doesn't look too unprofessional.

Site Updates
At the moment there are only a couple of posts for site updates, which are displayed across the main part of the homepage. It basically just gives you a bit of information regarding how the avatar work is going and such. They contain a date, plus one avatar each made exclusively for the site, and can also be found in he avatar section. These should maybe be posted a little more often, because I'm sure that there is more going on with the site than it shows.

Avatars
By the name of the site, you may have guessed that the site is all about avatars. Hundreds and hundreds of avatars have been made by the owners, just for you, of anyone such as the Doctors, companions, and spin-off shows. There may not be a better site out there for Doctor Who avatars, because there is such a range of colours and pictures, with hardly any from the same scene, used when the character has moved. They are all plain, not featuring any words, which is nice so the pictures look good. They've caught all the characters in every expression they make, it's unbeliveable! They've searched through every episode to find the best pictures, and brightened them up or edited them to make one massive compilation of amazing looking pictures. Any visitors would be spoilt for choice if they were wanting one single picture.

Request an Avatar/About Us
  • And it's not just the ones they decide to make. Any visitors can ask for an avatar made especially for them. They are not put with the other ones, but just below the place you can request for one. This feature is fantastic if you want a picture that hasn't already been made, and thankfully these are made with as much care as the others.
  • The other page featured on the site is the About Us page. This provides you with some information on the site owners, Bex and Will, what they used to do, and how they came together to form the site. It is a good short read, but is quite interesting.

Sidebar
The main sidebar is only featured on the homepage, and only has a few simple things. No more is needed than this though. The sidebar is on the left, and they have a friendly welcome message featured at the top. It tells you a tiny bit about the site and what the owners try to do. Below that are the pages; About Us, Avatars and Request an Avatar (see above). This is good site navigation, but this would be useful on every page of the site.  You then get the chat box, to exchange views on the site and talk to the owners. The last thing is the hit counter. The site has only just started, so it's not a big worry that there aren't a lot of visitors yet.

Other Features
Banner; The banner for The Avatar Proclamation features Rose Tyler from the conclusion of Doomsday at the end of Series 2.  It has the title and the clever motto 'for all your avatar needs'. It fits in with the colour of the site as well, blue.

atts key suggestions
  • More site updates posts
  • Not much more to suggest
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
'For all your avatar needs!' tells the truth of the site really. If you need an avatar, there is no better place to be! Just choose one of the pre-made ones or ask for one yourself!

Will and Seb

Owners
For a change, there are two owners of Will and Seb, and they are, frankly, Will and Seb! They are both very devoted to their fantastic site, and produce absolutely amazing stories, that so much hard work goes into. It is very clear that both of them like writing their own unique stories very much. They are always talking to themselves and others on the cbox. Not only that, but they are always very polite and kind, as well as replying to comments people have left on posts. This always makes me, and I'm sure others as well, feel very welcome, and shows that the owners are respectful towards visitors, and take pride in new ones arriving.

Layout
Will and Seb have a simple but effective layout for their site, which looks good. It may look a bit dull, but I think it's the content that really matters. It has a light green background, posts background in black, as well as the sidebar. The main problem is a lot of writing, and not enough pictures, which may put new visitors off. I can understand fully what the site is meant to be for; fan fiction; so there isn't anything they could do to make it look better really. It would take too long to put pictures in every story, plus they haven't got the right ones, so this can not be helped. Although, there could possibly be more colourful pictures in the sidebar, and tidy the sidebar up a bit, putting all parts of stories into pages and linked to the posts. But more on that a bit later.

Posts/Stories
Since the site had started, there has been so much put on the site it's unbelievable. It's not only stories either. They have just started reviews and there are a wide variety of different news posts created. This can be off-topic Doctor Who, or asking opinions of their stories from readers. But the main ones are stories, obviously. They are most definitely among the best fan fictions you could find across the internet, and you will always enjoy the variety of different stories. They are still on their first series of stories at the moment. No past companions have been used again in the stories, but they have made up their own. This is great, and you can really get a sense of feel of what their personalities are like. They are so interesting and engrossing, and will just make you want to read on and on once you get started. The frequent parts to stories help to keep the flow going, so you won't forget the story from one part to the next. The reviews are fabulous, as well as the animations they have made by themselves. All this comes together to form one tremendous compilation of material. One point I might pick out is the colour. In all posts, the writing colour is red, which makes it slightly hard and challenging to read.

Spelling and Grammar
As far as I can see, the spelling and grammar is perfect in all stories and anything else they come out with. Every post is well structured, but everything is written in the same size. This is fine, apart from some things may need to stand out a little more than others. But anyway, great!

Pages
I don't think you could say that there were any 'pages' on the site, but a few specific things are linked of the sidebar. This is like navigation, but there are so many different things to see!
  • Firstly you get all the stories, and there are eleven so far, each one with five parts to it.
  • There are different features to fan-fictions, talking about different characters and enemies, as well as their own spoilers, timeline and costumes!
  • The Reviews of merchandise and episodes provide a good source of information and their thoughts on different things.
  • There are then the animations they have produced. They are quite fun.
I would suggest making actual pages for each section, so the sidebar can be tidied up and to make all the features easier for access.

Sidebar
There are a number of different things in Will and Seb's sidebar. The site must be brilliant to have won three fun awards visitors have sent. They have won 'Witty Blogger Award', 'Blogger Cleverness Award' and a 'Mid-Air High Five', and the certificates are all located at the top. I might suggest moving them down, as they look a tad out of place at the top, where the welcome message should have been. You can read about the 'contributors', and I think you know who they are! They have a section on the next time Doctor Who video... but it's not actually embedded on the site for some strange reason. Then there's the colourful cbox and the poll on a topic related to the stories they produce. Every section on the site is then listed below, but it looks a bit messy because there are no pictures to break up the text. Then the archive and the owners' favourite websites. Bear in mind that they are not all Doctor Who related. So, a good sidebar, but a bit of tidying up needed in places.

Other Features
Banner; The banner for Will and Seb is nice and simple. It gives the name of the site and a short sentence of what it is.
Quote of the Time; At the very bottom of the page, you can see a random Doctor Who quote, which is a nice feature.

atts key suggestions
  • Sort colours, in layout and in posts plus post tidy (read above in posts/stories)
  • Tidy up the sidebar, putting related topics into pages
  • More pictures, less writing on the homepage
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
You can spend days on this website, due to the amount of stories and other content. You probably won't get bored either, because of the variety. Then you get pulled back to it because there are always new things. Super!

Sonic Bargains

Info

Web Host: Blogger
Run by: Jockie

Review

Owner
It shows that the site owner, Jockie, has made such a unique and brilliant Doctor Who site! It is completely different to any I've seen before. With 0ther sites coming out with various news posts all around the world of Doctor Who, Sonic Bargains contains all the special offers around merchandise. This is one website that could definitely save you money! It is very clear that the owner puts in a lot of hard work searching for special offers, as many are posted. The owner also talks in the cbox a bit, to welcome new visitors, and say hello again to old ones. Even though the site has not been going for that long yet, it is definitely of high standard already!

Layout
The layout for Sonic Bargains is very much a highlight! It is quite different to other layouts, because the background is no single colour or pattern. It is a fantastic picture of space, which is perfect for a site revolving around Doctor Who. The news posts have a black background and the sidebar is clear. The problem with having the sidebar clear is that the words don't show up terribly well, because they are just a plain grey. So this makes the words actually quite hard to read. It still looks good though. At the top of this sidebar the chat box is shown, which encourages people to leave a message very easily.

News Posts
All posts are based around special offers from all round the universe. They provide enough information on the offer it is talking about, which is great for reference. All posts contain a picture, most of the time to the left, and the same size, to make the posts clearer and easier to read. The formal language used in the writing is addictive and encourages you to read more. They are not too long, which is also quite nice, so you do not get put off. One problem could be that they are not very regular, but I don't know whether this is because there isn't enough news, or the owner just doesn't post it.

Spelling and Grammar
The language is written in a formal tone, which makes the site actually quite welcoming. All spelling is still superb though, but it's hard to depict here on the grammar, because what the site is trying to achieve is a friendly atmosphere, so it's not all the time English you would use for anything too important. Can I make it clear this is definitely not a bad thing.

Pages
No pages can be found on the site as of yet, but for what the site is trying to achieve, there isn't too much need for any.

Sidebar
A few gadgets on the sidebar make it pleasurable to look at. Not like other sites, the chat box is located at the very top, which is a nice idea if you want more comments. A message below that welcomes you to the site, and explains the rules of the cbox., plus a frequent poll. The poll at the moment asks how helpful you find the site. And it is nice to see no-one has voted negatively, and the owner should feel good about this! A few gadgets below show good prices of items on Amazon and the number of visitors on the site at the time of visiting. And then a good offer at a shop, with a picture of the product. Then who follows the site and some very useful links to other sites, then look back at older posts and find out about the owner! A very good selection of features here.

Other Features
Banner; The banner for Sonic Bargains fits the site perfectly. It has the sonic screwdriver (hence 'sonic' in the title) and logos of shops.
Down for Polls; A few closed polls are shown at the bottom of the page, but these are not really needed.

atts key suggestions
  • More frequent posts (if you can find them of course)
  • Tidy up polls at the bottom of the page
  • Um, pages? No, probably not
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
What a fantastic electronic way to save money. Enough said!

The 10 Doctors

Review

Owner
The owner of The 10 Doctors talks to visitors a lot in the cbox, which is very warming, and the friendliness of chats in the cbox and in the posts, makes you want to stay on the site longer. Most comments towards the site are replied to and the choice of words in the posts makes the site on a whole a great place to be!

Layout
A very clear and organised layout also draws you to the site. The background colour is a light grey, with the posts background black, and the sidebar a dark blue. Everything looks very neat, with an equal amount of writing and colourful pictures. This is helpful, as on some sites there can be too much writing and not a lot of pictures, and some with too many pictures, with a lack of writing. There's not one dark corner on The 10 Doctors. Everything looks great... and is!

News Posts
I think this could be the main problem on the site, which unfortunately is the main part of the site. The news posts are not very frequent, and so you don't get a lot of news just from looking at this site. They used to be more regular, but that seems to have slipped a touch. But anyway, when news is posted, they are detailed and always contain pictures, which breaks the text up for easier reading. They are always accurate and reliable, which is a great advantage.

Spelling and Grammar
The spelling and grammar are of the highest standard avaliable, with a mistake occuring hardly ever. The posts are very well structured, which helps the grammar, and makes the site very professional. You can see the work put in too get things right very clearly!

Pages
There are a few great pages for The 10 Doctors, which should keep you on the site for a little while longer.
  • The main part of the pages are the episode guides. These are for every episode of new series Doctor Who. They contain a picture and the synopsis. I think there could be more included on these guides though. Possibly more detail about writers, and possible cast? Just a thought.
  • Another one are the site videos. These are just fun videos people have made, and they are great fun to watch.
  • The other are the links, which are compiled of various different sites, official or fan-made. A good selection if you want to see some other fantastic sites. I think there could be more pages, which more updates on them, but apart from that, not bad!

Sidebar
The sidebar is jammed packed full of features. Too many to list in fact, so I'll talk about a few highlights. At the top a welcome sign is shown and it talks a little bit about the site, and what you can do on it. Below that is a slideshow of all ten Doctors, naturally for a site of the name it has. Pages are displayed under this, as well as a poll and a countdown to Christmas. Below those is a funny fact about Doctor Who, which is great, apart from I think it should be changed once in a while. Apparently the site was awarded the Medal of Awesomeness, and there is quite a long paragraph about the Doctor and Doctor Who. The chat box lets the owner and visitors communicate, and then there are the links to the episode guides, by episode. You can then suscribe to the site if you want and read about the owner. After which you can fllow the site, find out how many visitors there have been and go to old posts. I think the sidebar is a highlight in itself.

Other Features
Banner; The banner for The 10 Doctors has been made exclusively to the site by Jake from Doctor Rumours. It features logos and the ten Doctors, but unfortunately looks a bit messy. This is not the owner's fault however. I wouldn't know what to suggest in this case.

atts key suggestions
  • More frequent news posts
  • Possibly a few more pages?
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
A great good-looking site which has a nice variety of different features, with a kind owner.

The Medusa Cascade

Info

Web Host: Blogger
Run by: Luke
Opened: 26th August 2008

Review

Owner
The cbox for The Medusa Cascade has just been put up, but there aren't many comments. When there are though, the owner, Luke, replies quickly with kind words. We don't see a lot of personality towards the owner, but we know that he respects visitors, because of the welcome sign at the top of the site. In posts, also, Luke is polite, which is good to see!

Layout
There may not be many pictures in the posts or much background colour, but the colours on everything else looks brilliant. Everything looks well thought out, neat and tidy. The colour scheme has recently been changed. Before there were hardly any colours at all, but in fact now, it's great to look at! Also, pictures and colours on the sidebar have recently been added, adding towards the overall effect. It is nice and simple though, with a nice black background, which is useful. I think it looks just about right for what it tries to achieve. This downside could be too much writing, with not a lot of pictures in the posts, but because the posts are mostly just telling you what is on and when, it is not such a great problem.

News Posts
The posts are of good quality, but they aren't all that often. Most of the time, they are about the schedule on TV, but there is also the latest news from the who-universe also, so that's great to see. As I mentioned before, the main problem in the posts are the pictures. Maybe just a small picture to break the text up, because at the moment, it isn't all that eye-catching, and makes it looks a bit tedious to read. Apart from the that, and the infrequent posts, fantastic!

Spelling and Grammar
Looking down the site at a glance, I can see that the spelling and grammar is marvellous, with only a couple of errors that I can find (one in the title, which is a little obvious). The grammar is superb, and writing is constructed in a well thought out fashion.

Pages
There are no pages as of yet on The Medusa Cascade, but apparently there will be some hopefully at Christmas! I'm looking forward to these, and they consist of Episode Guides, Gallery, Monster Info and Links. This is reported at the top of the site. The site hasn't been going for terribly long, so it's good to see them quite soon.

Sidebar
The sidebar has also recently been improved with new features. The main one is probably the TV schedules for upcoming episodes, new and repeated. They are laid out with a picture of the episode, but one possibility could be to make all the pictures the same size. A few of them are slightly different, and looks a little messy, but this can be easily tidied! At the top is the short section on information. It's just a short three points about the site. A cbox allows visitors who come on the site a chance to talk and express opinions. Not in use a lot, but enough of the time. I think another definite highlight is the spotlight story and featured website. The spotlight story takes a look at a story from Doctor Who, and includes the synopsis. I think reader's will very much like this feature, to find out about a story they might be interested in from the Classic Series. The featured website just picks out one site once in a while, and talks a bit about it, advertising it. One problem is there is no actual link to the site, but just the site address, so this could be added, and possibly with a small picture of the site? Under that is a poll and the followers of the site.

Other Features
Banner; The banner for The Medusa Cascade has been made exclusively to the site by Jake from Doctor Rumours, and naturally features the Medusa Cascade and the Tardis in it, as well as a good looking logo and a quote from Journey's End, made by the creator of the Daleks, Davros.
Welcome; A short paragraph above the posts welcomes you and addresses the reader about what the site is all about.
Gadgets at the bottom; There are nearly more things at the bottom of The Medusa Cacade than there are on the whole of the sidebar! So, we have a search bar, to find exactly what you want to know about. The number of people on the site is shown, as well as an option to subscribe to the site. Then there's the written section. This is all about the site, including the owner and a copyright notice. I think a few of these things should, though, be put in the sidebar, as it might look tidier, but not the about section.

atts key suggestions
  • Pictures included in posts
  • More frequent posts
  • Pictures in the sidebar all same size
  • Sort sidebar and bottom page gadgets to look tidier.
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
The Medusa Cascade is a smashing site if you want to know dates related to Doctor Who, and when the pages are put on the site, it should develop the site even more!

Doctor Who Down Under

Info

Web Host: Blogger
Run by: Alexander
Opened: June 2008

Review

Owner
The owner of Doctor Who Down Under like to talk to new visitors, and also chat with others in the site's cbox, and is always polite in the news posts. Lately, there doesn't seems to be much interaction in the cbox from the owner, as people are talking to him, but there is no response. But what we do know is that Alex respects his owners, and tries to make them happy in a number of different ways.

Layout
The layout for Doctor Who Down Under is not the usual design you would come across, when looking at a Blogger site. It is so different, as there is one big picture in the background, showing a great blue outer space image, with the main part of the site slightly transparent, so you can see the background through it. This is very effective, and much attract visitors to the site, just to admire the look of it! As you scroll down, the centre part of the site moves, but the background does not, which also looks very impressive. This main centre piece, where the site actually is, is displayed very clearly to see. Even though there is this fantastic background, there is a darker surround to the main part, to make it less complicated. I think the whole layout makes Doctor Who Down Under just that little bit more special than other sites, as an extra added on.

News Posts
From the title, Doctor Who Down Under, you may have worked out that the site is all about what goes down in Who world... down there! The site is based in Australia, and is reliable enough on giving you the latest news from Australia! All the posts seem great for if you live there, and i hope the posts provide you with very useful information. By the looks of it, it all looks very well structured, and I'm sure that all news is correct and up-to-date. The only problem is that there aren't very frequent posts, so it would be nice to see a little more, a little more often. But I also don't know how much news they get, so news down there might well be quite slow at the time. Pictures are normally displayed for each post, but no all of them.

Spelling and Grammar
All spelling seems very accurate, and, by the looks of it, hardly every a mistake is made. The same can be said about the grammar. This is great, as it makes it look very professional.

Pages
The are no pages featured on Doctor Who Down Under, as of yet. It may be nice to see some being produced in the future, as news updates don't seem to occur that often.

Sidebar
There isn't a large amount of gadgets in the sidebar, but there certainly is a great selection, so that you won't get bored too easily. Page Hits are displayed across the top, but unfortuntely, the site doesn't receive the amount of visitors a day that it deserves at the moment. A terrific feature lets you search the site to find exactly what you want to know. The owner's profile and then followers are displayed, and there isn't a bad amount of followers! A poll, with a new one pretty regularly is below this, including a next time section, showing the next episode of Doctor Who in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand! The links look really good in the layout they have been put in, in the sidebar. There is a wide variety of different sites listed, which is a hit for the visitors, so that they can pay a visit to some other great related sites! Lastly, at the bottom, is the cbox. This isn't used too often, but occasionally new visitors, and regular ones say hello, but no chatting seems to take place. If the cbox were moved further up the sidebar, then this should occur more often.

Other Features
Banner; The Banner for Doctor Who Down Under is quite plain, and not too fussy. It doesn't show any pictures, but the (cleverly designed) logo is on it, and now, it has the Sarah Jane Adventures logo on it, saying that it is on the site. But this statement doesn't seem correct, as no posts have lately been to do with the matter.
Archive; The archive is displayed under the banner, but I'm not sure if this is the best place for it. It could possibly be moved into the sidebar, so there is more room for posts to come all the way up the page.
Online Now; At the very bottom, there is an online now widget, showing the amount of visitors on the site, at the time you enter.

atts key suggestions
  • More talkative in the cbox
  • More news posts (only if there is any more news of course)
  • A few pages possibly being added onto the site
  • Cbox moved upwards in the sidebar, and the blog archive being moved into it
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
This is a wonderful site if you are an Australian fan of Doctor Who, which could be even better with a few edits and additions!

Cybus Factory

Review

Info; Cybus Factory is an Australian Doctor Who, Star Wars and The Clone Wars site, but is mainly just Doctor Who. It features many pages and guides, which include news, reviews, DVD and TV schedules for Australia!

Owner
I think we can presume that the owner lives in Australia, and they work hard in getting information on Doctor Who from the country. As it's not the main homeland for Doctor Who, this must be more difficult, but there are a variety of different guides and information sections on the site. The owner seems to talk in the chat room and on different pages politely to the visitors, and the site on a whole, due to this, proves to have a friendly atmosphere.

Layout
The layout for Cybus Factory is very simple, and looks good for the site that it is. The main colour is a grey, with the title of the site always at the top of the page, pages displayed to the right, like a sidebar and the main part to the left of that. Everything is marked pretty clearly, so you shouldn't find yourself getting lost. A point I might make, apart from the Tardis is the vortex in the top right-hand corner of the page, there isn't a lot of colours. Although, there are in all the main sections of the pages, to help display information, but apart from that, there isn't much. If this was made a little better, it would help in attracting the site's visitors. Another thing is the little, well, as sort of ghost-like thing in the top left of the page. I don't know whether this is just an advert, and you can't change it, but it's a little annoying!

News Updates
Well, I don't live in Australia, and don't keep up-to-date with any news down there, so I don't know if the news is accurate and correct. I assume it is, as it does all look good, and they probably don't get as much news as we get. I also don't know how regular updates to this news page occur, as there are no dates shown. From what I can see, there are some great posts, with latest ones being on DVD news, so no trouble there.

Spelling and Grammar
There doesn't seem to be many mistakes in spelling, apart from a few, with a few wrong spellings of characters names i.e. in the review page, but nothing too major. The same goes for the grammar, and everything the site puts up is planned and structured pleasantly.

Pages (with highlights)
Well, I can't really say pages are a highlight to the site. More like they are, because on Freewebs you get a homepage, welcoming you, but then the pages are the main thing, and the links to them are presented on the right. Apart from the homepage, there are seventeen different pages altogether, with eleven for Doctor Who, two other, plus a couple for links, chatroom and such. I'm going to pick out a few highlights of these pages;
Reviews; The reviews posted on the page of the same name, are fantastic. They are not too long, not too short and the owner is honest about his thoughts on an episode or a DVD release. A wide variety of different products and episodes make up the review section, and they are enjoyable to read. Each one comes with a picture, and gives a rating out of ten, and I must say, a lot of episodes from the fourth series of Doctor Who have scored very highly.
Podcast; Together with Alex from Doctor Who Down Under, there is a monthly podcast, called the 'Australian Doctor Who Podcast'. When this kicks off soon, which it should, I'm looking forward to listening to it, and I hope it's good! On the page is also an FAQ, if there is anything you don't understand or need to know.
Schedules and Release Guides; On a few pages, there are release guides for DVDs and other Doctor Who Merchandise, plus a schedule for the next episodes of all three shows to be broadcast in Australia. This is wonderful for all of you who live down there, and I hope it proves useful. It is all laid out very neatly, with different colours to show different things.
Eggs in Time; A fabulous feature for the site, which has a list of all the hidden features in Region 4 DVDs, is the Easter Egg page. The owner has clearly put a lot of work put into finding them, as they are all hidden. I'm sure a lot of them though are the same as Region 2 DVDs, that you can buy up here in the UK. Another page has a load of information on the magazine series, Battles in Time, and also has information on the Bloopers and Mistakes of the magazine itself! This is quite funny, and you can see if you had spotted any.
Quiz and Other; Take the brilliant quiz, all about Doctor Who. It has three sections; Easy, Medium and Hard, evidently getting harder as you go on. What can you score? Are you a true Who fan? Take it and find out. It's great! The three other pages are a links page, guestbook and chatroom. The links page features a fantastic list of Doctor Who resources, with many fansites as well, complete with a pretty picture of the site to go with it. Sign the guestbook, to say that you have been on it, and remember to comment, plus, if you have the time, you can chat to the owner and other visitors in the chatroom. All the pages are excellent!

Other Features
Banner; There isn't a banner, as such, for Cybus Factory, but it has the title of the website, and brief statement telling you what the site is, and a picture of the Tardis in the vortex. There could be a bit more colour to the whole thing though.

atts key suggestions
  • A bit more colour to the site. As I've never seen how you can do Freewebs, I wouldn't know what to do, but it's just a suggestion.
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
Cybus Factory is a terrific site for all you Australians out there, with news, reviews, magazine and DVD news, you won't feel bored too easily, so hop along to this fantastic site now, and see the wonders it beholds!

Tardis Base

Info

Web Host: Blogger
Run by: Zobles
Opened: February 2008

Review

Owner
Although Zobles, the owner of Tardis Base, doesn't seem to interact with the great amount of  visitors that the site gains, we learn that the owner puts in a lot of hard work into the site, and shows determination in finding the news and making posts about it. And Zobles is always polite in posts, which fortunately does make the site seem welcome. There is no cbox, and so visitors can not talk to the owner, which is a shame, because I'm sure people would like to. Although, having said that, it may look messy on the fantastic layout the site has got. But if not, there are the posts, and some site owners do prefer to talk in posts, but unfortunately, Zobles does not do this very often.

Layout
The layout for Tardis Base is so neat and tidy and looks so professional, that it is definitely one of the things that makes you want to go on it. There aren't many layouts that you could choose, that would be better, as it is just so perfect. With all the pictures made by the owner and all the beautiful colours, the site is so radiant and rich in freshness, it's unbelievable! Tardis Base's main colour scheme seems to be blue, but with all the images and writing, it seems a lot more than that!

News Posts
News posts on Tardis Base are always very frequent, and are a joy to read! There are many up-to-date posts everyday, without fail! Every post is accurate, which proves that the site is a very efficient and reliable source for all the latest news from 'Who world'. But it is not just how precise they are, they are detailed to the full, so you need not look elsewhere. Everything you'd need to know on the topic is contained within every piece of news that Zobles finds. Occasionally, the owner makes exceptional pictures for the posts he makes, which are always amazing quality, and some of the best Photoshop work I've ever seen, from within a site like this, and this goes for the banners as well. Mostly though, just a related cropped picture is put on, which looks great, and gives the posts the extra sparkle!

Spelling and Grammar
I'll keep on the positive trend, and say that all spelling and grammar is superb too, with not one single mistake in both spelling and grammar throughout the whole site, including its pages! Original words put in posts make them very enjoyable to read, so you can't really find a dull moment when looking through!

Pages
Some new pages have very recently been added onto the site, which is super, as before they were, all there was were news updates. I presume then, that Zobles wanted to make his site even bigger than it was. This could make the site even more popular than it already is, due to the large amount of visitors the site gains already every day. To start of, I hope, a new series of pages, the ones already added are Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures and a Gallery. In Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures there are things like Episode Guides, Character Guides, Merchandise and other things, including the official magazine for Torchwood and Music for The Sarah Jane Adventures. All these things are produced of high quality, with fantastic banners for each made exclusively for the site. These two sections both look extremely impressive and much hard work has gone into them! The Gallery page has just opened, but already there are a few promotional pictures and also exclusive wallpapers. It's a little two early to comment on this page in full, but we do know what there are going to be a lot of great things happening to this page, plus new pages in the future. One thing that really looks fantastic for me is the way each separate page is laid out across the top of the site, under the banner, and when you enter the different pages, new links are displayed in the same place, to get you where you want to be on that page. Plus, when you hover over a link, a little light comes on, which looks very professional. It's only a small thing, which makes the site look and feel magnificent.

Sidebar
Tardis Base's sidebar is not too long, fortunately making the site very neat again. It is one of the best sites for television reminders, and those are marked clearly, and show not just the next premiere of an episode on television, but also repeats. And this includes Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, with different countries as well! There is also a feature where you can suscribe to posts, and a stylish clock, which should stop you being late for anything. Under all this the sidebar separates into two different sides, and we have the site archive, and the number of visitors online at the present time, and the other has a few links, hit counter and followers. Links are linked off to another page, after the three official ones, and has a nice long list of great websites. Tardis Base earns a large amount of Page Hits, with the average when I type this at about 130 unique visitors a day, which is brilliant!

Other Features
Banner; The Banners for Tardis Base are always made by the owner, and are always of the best quality and standard, and it definitely pays off! At the moment the banner shows the Doctor by the Tardis, with a background of the night sky. It then has the site's logo and the words 'Doctor Who Returns at Christmas'.
Copyright Notice; At the bottom is a sign saying that the site is copyright Tardis Base. Bit of a random thing to say, but I suppose it's a feature!

atts key suggestions
  • The only thing I could say is there could be a little more interaction towards visitors, but other than that, nothing
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
An amazing site, which is a must visit for any Who fan. The layout is perfect, the posts are just what you need to brighten up your day, and why not take a look round spectacular pages as well?! This site clearly shows the hard work does pay off!

Doctor Rumours

Info

Web Host: Blogger
Run by: Jake
Opened: September 2008

Review

Owner
The owner of Doctor Rumours, mostly, greets people in the cbox, but not all that often, but we can establish that he takes pride in the visitors that the site has already got. Jake also talks a lot in the cbox, but lately, it has not always been about new visits. He sometimes includes his own life in the posts made, which is good, and occasionally makes the site feel like an actual 'blog'.

Layout
The layout works nicely for the site. There are many colours, but none of them are too bright. There is no colour scheme as such to Doctor Rumours, but the background colour is a darkesh blue, with the post section black, and sidebar a green and a blue lower down. I think there needs to be a little sort out to colours, as I don't think the variety at the moment attracts visitors to the site too well. There needs to be some sort of format, to just make it look a little tidier, perhaps?

News Posts
I wouldn't say that there were a lot of news posts. Occasionally there are, but it's mainly about news on the site or information and news that the owner has just found randomly. Now, I think by the name of the site that it's supposed to be rumours from the Whouniverse, but it is still slightly confusing to try and latch on to what the main theme of posts are. The posts themselves are brought out pretty regularly, but there hasn't been all that much on news recently. It all needs to be a bit more clear.

Spelling and Grammar
Spelling mistakes don't occur all that often, but there are a few points on grammar. Capital letter misuse occurs quite frequently, putting small case letters at the start of a word meant to start with a capital and stuff like that. Also, it's all a bit jumbled up, if you know what I mean! There doesn't seem to be a lot of structure, so it would be nice to see improvement on this topic. But I don't want to sound negative!

A new page, the Banner Designs page has recently launched. The whole idea is for people to ask for a banner, made exclusively by the owner, for his or her site. This is a great idea, and I hope the owners of other websites like them. One query on that matter is that the banners made don't seem to fit the size of the site they are aiming at. They all seem a bit big, but I won't dig too deep into that, as it's for Jake and the other website owner to talk about.

Sidebar
The site's sidebar has a lot of gadgets in it for information and just for fun. It contains a welcome sign, again, welcoming people to the site, the owner's email address, so that you can contact him if need be. Next Time videos remind you of the next episode to be broadcast, of all shows; Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Also details are shown under each video of what the episodes are. Visitor information ends the first part of the sidebar, with page hits and who's online at the time of your visit. The site has only been running for just over a month, so I'm not suprised that there aren't that many visitors, but as the site grows older, I'm sure the figure will get bigger. Following on from what was in the first half of the sidebar, a picture and dates show the next episode of all shows. This should possibly be with the videos, but not a major matter. The cbox is in use a lot of the time for chatting, and is also good for opinions and views on the site from visitors. There is a regular poll, and a list of useful websites. A great feature from Blogger shows which Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures episodes were shown on this day. At the bottom are a few links to random things, like scripts from Doctor Who, found on The Writer's Tale website.

Other Features
Banner; The Banner for Doctor Rumours is quite good, but is a little large. It means you have to scroll down a bit to get to the main part of the site. The design of the banner is great, though. It has Mr Smith, but in the screen it has been changed, having the site's logo, plus all three show's ones too. Cleverly, the site's name has been edited into the keys at the bottom of Mr. Smith, which looks great!
Copyright Notice; Just a notice showing that all the shows are copyright BBC and such.

atts key suggestions
  • Sort colour scheme
  • Sort out a few other things like Posts, Grammar and Sidebar
  • Just mostly everything I have said above
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
A lovely little site, that seems to have a variety of different posts and great features, but a little more work would make it even better!

Owner
The owner of Life, Doctor Who and Combom is sometimes refered to (well, on Planet Gallifre, at least, as the 'Lord of Speculation'. This definitely shows, due to the amazing posts, where the owner speculates every topic imaginable! Although Life, Doctor Who and Combom lacks a cbox, like many other sites do, when are able to pick up on the owner's personality very easily, due to the amount of posts created by him every day! The site doesn't really need a chat box, as you can tell that people would only leave pleasant ones, due to the quantity of visitors the site earns every day, but there is more on visitors a bit later!

Layout
The layout for the site is one of the simplest layouts that I've come across on Blogger sites, but fortunately, this is not a bad thing, as it simply does not need an exciting, eye-catching look, due to the content itself. It stands out from the rest, so when you visit for the first time it definitely hits you as to how white and plain it is, which is great! But the best thing need not be in the layout, as it's the posts (and the sidebar) that really matters!

News Posts
There is an amazing variety to the different posts made on Life, Doctor Who and Combom. There seems to be so many bits of news posted every day! You can learn from the title of the website that it is not all about Doctor Who, but has lots of variation, in all topics the owner is interested in. From the title, 'Life' shows up clearly. As the owner goes through life as he normally would, he picks up on bits of information, stuff that he is interested in, and makes fantastic posts all about them. Material that you would never find. Even if it's something small, it's posted, and it is great and absorbing (though, not literally!). Most of it though is just all about Doctor Who, and takes loads of news, and puts them on the site. Just lately, has there been hundreds and hundreds of Torchwood filming pictures, and they're all on there! I don't have a clue where they all come from! And now there is a weekly post on who could play the Eleventh Doctor! I could go on to talk about it, but there is too much too talk about. I think the main point that I would like to get across is that the site is magnificent! All posts have images, and some more than one, like with the Torchwood Filming photos. One thing I will say though is that there is nothing to separate the quotes and his own words. I think this should be made a bit clearer.

Spelling and Grammar
From what I can see on the site at a glance, everything seems top notch, but with an occasional formal statement, and a ':)' smilie, which actually makes you feel at home, with no pressure put on you! That's good for visitors, and all the grammar is great as well!

Pages
No pages are linked onto Life, Doctor Who and Combom. There doesn't need to be though, as the site is mainly used just as a 'blog' and not like other owners, who have made their sites into bigger 'websites', as such. Plus, there is already too much to read, with the frequent posts, let alone have even one page!

Sidebar
The sidebar for the site, in itself, is one of the two main highlights, the other being posts. If I had to list and talk about every single item in their, you would probably be moving on to the next topic, as it would be too long! So, highlights anyway. At the top (here we go again!), the profile of the owner, Combom. Plus a little joke in the about me section, which is quite a laugh. Then there's a visitor count, and I must say that the site has had a suprising number of viewers (over 60,000 since August!), and I'm bewildered as to where they come from, but we know! Thanks to all the great gadgets on the sidebar, we know exactly where they've come from, with website and all, a tally of countries, showing the flag and which pages visitors most like looking at. These things are found just below that, with an option to change the language of the site. This feature must be very helpful for people who speak any language other than English. A label list helps you get to the topics you need to, and the archive, showing all posts, grouped in weekly sections. Then there's 'Links to Useful Sites'. Well, it's all said in the title really, and a blogroll of friends sites. Number online at the time is shown by a marvellous widget, and pictures linking to assorted sites, and it all come together in one neat, satisfying sidebar!

Other Features
Banner; The Banner for Life, Doctor Who and Combom looks very... different, but not in a bad way! I think, at least, it shows the back of someone's head (possibly the owner's?), with the title of the site written in a stencil-like text, but not in an organized fashion. The banner fits the site nicely!
Burp!: Well, it starts off with that anyway, but there is a section at the bottom of the pages, dedicated to telling you everything to know, so you can guide your way through, plus giving credit to whoever needs it. I actually found it quite an enjoyable read!

atts key suggestions
  • Er, quotes made clearer, and that's about it! Just keep doing what you always do.
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
I couldn't think of one site better to give you news, rumours, information and anything else about Doctor Who, and any odd thing that comes up in life, so if you like that sort of thing, you'd love this incredible masterpiece of a site. With clever links in the posts and it's family friendly words to a link to the Fortean Times Magazine website, it's all fantastic!

Timelords Vs Daleks

Info

Review

Owner
We learn from the site that the owner's personality is a great one, and is shown through the cbox and many of the posts. The site's cbox has very recently been put up, but there aren't many people chatting or making comments at this time. But when people do say things, Jamie is quick to say hello, and welcome them kindly to the site.

Layout
Timelords Vs Daleks uses one of the original Blogger templates, but is one of the best. It mainly has a white background, with a great light blue next to the banner, and light orange backgrounds to headers in the sidebar. Apart from it being a tad to big, the banner gives lovely colour to the top of the site, and the posts always contain pictures for the same affect, which leads us onto the next topic...

News Posts
The whole idea of the site is to give you all the news from the Who world. There are a suprising number of posts each day, which is fantastic if you want to be updated on news a lot of the time. Most news that you'd find interesting is posted, on all three topics, Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. It is always written in a tidily and understandable fashion, with quotes and press releases marked clearly in red. Pictures are put in on every post, which is magnificent as the site then does not look too boring. Occasionally the pictures are made by the owner, and I have to say, very well!

Spelling and Grammar
Looking through the site, there doesn't seem to be very many spelling mistakes at all, but one thing I would say, is that a lot of the time there is a misuse of capital letters, meaning that sometimes when a word is supposed to have a small letter at the start, it is sometimes replaced with a capital. None of the first words in a sentence have that problem though.

Pages
I cannot find any pages on Timelords Vs Daleks yet, but, as the site has not been running for long, there might be a few in the near future, perhaps? There is enough to keep you occupied on the main page for a while, though.

Sidebar
There are some magnificent things in the site's sidebar. At the top is an owner's profile gadget, which is possibly supposed to be a welcome sign? Maybe, for the welcome sign, there should be a proper one, but it is not too major. A poll is usually running below it, in which a few people vote, but not a lot, and this is mainly because the site hasn't been going for long, so is not attracting a lot of visitors. The cbox has just been put up, and below it is a schedule for the next episodes to be broadcast of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. These are good for if you forget, but you shouldn't do! Also, USA broadcasts are sometimes mentioned. A hit counter and an 'online now' gadget tell you brief visitor information, and a nice-looking countdown for Doctor Who's 2008 Christmas Special is below it. A short section of links and the site's archive also feature at the bottom.

Other Features
Banner; The Banner for Timelords Vs Daleks looks excellent, and contains pictures of latest episodes. At the moment, two pictures of a Cyberman and Elijah Spellman are cut out onto a starry background, with the site's, Torchwood's and The Sarah Jane Adventures' logos around the center. Although you can see it and know what it is, I think the site's logo should be made more clear, so you know exactly what site you are looking at!

atts key suggestions
  • Banner Size needs a little bit of an edit
  • Cut down on capital letter misuse
  • A few pages?
  • The welcome sign more clear
  • Siet's logo more clear on logo, so you don't get confused with Torchwood's and The Sarah Jane Adventures'
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
Timelords Vs Daleks is a fabulous site in the making, for the latest news, and has the capability to become bigger and better in the future!

Owner
From before the cbox was taken down, we became aware that the owner of The Oncoming Storm was kind and respects her visitors. The cbox was taken down, as the owner hoped for more comments on posts, and, thankfully, it's working, as most posts get on average 3 comments each. This is satisfying, and shows that people are still sharing interest of talking and commenting on the site.

Layout
The layout for The Oncoming Storm has an fantastically eye-catching layout. The layout colours have changed quite recently, and now the site looks very professional and fitting. There are various different colours now, ranging from the dark blue background colour and the standing-out white outlines, and so, nothing looks out of place, but looks just right. A visitor could get drawn to the site by just the layout any day!

News Posts
On the main page of the site, the news posts are shown. On average, only one news story is posted a day, so you couldn't say this was a great news site in itself. When they do come out, they are fantastic posts, with a great avatar to the top left of the post, usually not to do with the news story, but appropriate for the post. Bex finds interesting news you would most likely to find enjoyable to read, but a lot of the time there are, at least at this time of year, posts saying that there hasn't been much news today. Even though there may be things, it doesn't matter, as she finds something to post about new features on the site or like, which is great, as the pages are the main part of the site.

Spelling and Grammar
If you were set the challenge of searching through the whole site and its pages to find at least one spelling or grammar mistake, and you could not stop looking until you'd found it, it would take you up to your demise, and then still go on in the next life! Enough said?

Pages
I think this is one of the best blog sites for pages. You can't normally find this many extras, and even been made into the main part of the site! Bex puts so much work into the pages, and it definitely shows. If you ever said that you would be able to get bored with the site, then you must be lying, because there are many things, from information about the owner, characters, quotes and more. Media, with many splendid galleries, banners and wallpapers made by the owner. Another thing is the avatar page, which is not hosted by blogger, in which you can request for an avatar, specially made for you. There are a few great games, where you can enter the monthly caption competition, try to guess who the character is by the clothes they are wearing and which episode a picture is from. There are then bright and interesting episode guides for the complete four series of Doctor Who, which are linked onto pages, with gerat contrasty avatars for each episode. These are linked to all the episodes from that series. The guides themselves give you brilliant information from the episode in an amazing layout. And then there are the fantastic stories, also written especially for the site by the owner. There are four short single stories, which are great if you want a moderately quick read. At the moment a new series of thirteen stories, like a normal series, but with new companion Beth, are being made, and already two parts have been added. These are really long, and loads and loads of work goes into them, and it definitely pays off! I think the stories are the best part of the pages! They are so original, but at the same time quality writing, that should even be made into a short book!

Sidebar
The fantastic layout really helps to give visitors and easy and great way to view information about the site and the pages linked off it. At the top, is the usual warming welcome sign, explaining what the site is dedicated to, which is not hard to work out! Under this are a few pieces of information including the site owner, page hits and when the site opened. There is also a part saying the month's music, which gives you a tune from a Doctor Who soundtrack for the month. Not only that, but there is a player that plays the tune whenever you arrive on the site, to emphasise it, plus to make the site more lively. It then tells you how many people are on the site exactly at the time you are looking, with a clever widget, and it also tells you the most number on the site at one time since the owner has been tracking visitors. Usually there is a poll on various different subjects, which is great, as you can see what people think on a certain topic. After that, and the main part of the sidebar, are the site's pages. These are very clearly marked, easy to access and looks impressive. Each section, Information, Media, Games, Stories, Episodes and TOCS Series 1, are marked with a Doctor Who picture, fitted to the right size, with the name of the section in the bottom left of the image in white. These are quite random pictures. Another way to put it is that they don't have much to do with the section, but that does not matter at all, as it doesn't have to! One thing that I might suggest though is on the series of episodes written by Bex, you might consider putting the ones that have been written, and have links to them, put into a different colour to make them clearer, but, apart from that, marvelous!

Other Features
Banner; The Banner for The Oncoming Storm fits the site nicely, and looks vibrant, so that's good, but I might suggest putting a new one up every so often, and possibly making the logo stand out a bit more, to show exactly what the site is!
The Month's Music; At the bottom of the sidebar is a player which plays the chosen music for the month from a Doctor Who Album.

atts key suggestions
  • Change the banner a little more often!
  • Possibly news posts more often, and maybe about about merchandise, as there is news out there! I can understand that most work goes into the pages though!
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
This is an amazing must-visit site! Whether you are a beginner to the world of Doctor Who, or a full-time Who fan, this will be a fantastic reference and information site, but with inspiring stories, fun things to do and great things to look at! You won't get bored by the features and hard-work poured into The Oncoming Storm, with all the regular updates, and great news stories, when they are posted, of course!

Doctor Who Base

Owner
There is no cbox on the site and in the posts, the information is mainly just facts and figures, so, sadly, we do not get to see the character of the owner. Sometimes in websites, if this happens, it seems like the site is running itself. I believe on the sidebar, though, is a message saying that the site is made by him, the banner made by Brad (from The Doctor Who News Blog) and a feature promoting The Doctor Who Who News Blog, plus a welcome sign. This shows that there is a 'human' behind it all. At least the words in the episode guides are written in his own words, so we see some personality there also. Clearly it shows that the owner is very good friends with Brad.

Layout
The layout for Doctor Who Base is very similar to The Doctor Who News Blog. It is straightforward and simple, not making it too challenging to look round. The colours are mostly all grey and white, with lovely colours in the banner sidebar and posts. This is a great starting layout to start with with a site. It is easy and uncomplicated, so you can grow onto the design in the future.

News Posts
The main part of the site at the moment are the news posts. There are good choices of news, if not all news is posted, but it is mainly just news posts. The posts are written in the owner's words, but are usually quite short. There are some good facts in the posts, but, that's mostly all it is. There isn't much extra info, apart from telling you a bit about the item, when it comes out and the price. I think the content and information given should be improved a little to make the site better than it is. There are usually pictures, often images of the piece of merchandise. Another thing I would say is that quotes should be marked clearly, as it is all in the same colour and not italic or bold. This would be good to see.

Spelling and Grammar
Most of the time, the spelling and grammar is excellent, apart from the odd one or two slips, which can't be helped. The same can be said about the grammar. Another thing I would say is that sentences are quite short and there are a lot of them. You might consider putting words like 'and', 'also' and 'but' to help the news posts to flow more.

Pages
There aren't really any 'pages' on the site yet, apart from episode guides of the new series of Doctor Who. These are not linked onto another page, but they are older posts. When the site first started, these were the first things to be posted on the site, before news had started at all. These are linked in the sidebar to each single episode, but there are no Series 4 ones linked, although they have been made. These guides have a pictures from the episode, plus a synopsis written by the owner. I think these guides should maybe have a little more facts and detail, but they play a nice part to the site.

Sidebar
The sidebar on Doctor Who Base is pretty short, but is looks great, so it looks neat. At the top, is a welcome sign, giving a nice warm welcome to the visitor. This sign might just make you want to become a follower of the site, and there couldn't be a better place to put it! Just under! Below these things are features which give you information about the next episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures in the UK. These have a picture from the episode to look more colourful and better. There is no chat box (cbox), so unfortunately visitors cannot talk to people on the site, which is a shame, because I think visitors should be able to talk and leave messages. But it is the owner's choice thought! There is a list of Doctor Who episodes from Series 1 to Series 3, with linked episode guides made on the site. This is great, as it gives an easy way to access those guides, but I would suggest putting the Series 4 ones up too! There is a very short links list, an archive for older news, a message giving information on when and who created the site and different parts to it. Plus there is a link to The Doctor Who News Blog. There are a nice few things in there, which hopefully makes the site a bit better.

Other Features
Banner; The Banner for Doctor Who Base is made from Brad at The Doctor Who News Blog, and is a really great and colourful one! At the moment it shows the Sarah Jane Adventures team, a Sontaran and a clown, with the Sarah Jane logo and the Doctor Who Base Logo in the top right.

atts key suggestions
  • Some way of interacting with vistitors more. A Cbox?
  • More to news posts, making them flow more, and some extra information besides facts.
  • Possibly some new pages? As it is called Doctor Who Base, so it should not be just for just news and a few guides, but could be a lot more!
  • More to episode guides in the future. A few more facts?
  • I think overall just a bit more to the whole site really!
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
I think this is a great site in the making that has good news and episode guides, with great potential.

Owner
The owner is always talking and welcoming visitors to the site. Brad is always polite in the site's cbox as well as in posts. This draws visitors to the site very well, so more people want to come back often.

Layout
The layout for The Doctor Who News Blog is straightforward, very beneficial is definitely appropriate for the sort of site it is. This makes it easy to have a look round, without getting distracted by bright colours and lights. It is mostly all grey and white, but altogether the layout seems very professional and trouble-free.

News Posts
The news post, which is what the site is mostly all about, hence 'The Doctor Who News Blog', are fantastic and very regularly posted. Nearly every single piece of news (that would be of any intrest) is posted, in the owner's own words. The site is always reliable for all the latest news and are always written in a terrific and very understandable. Brad provides you with all the information about the topic with no mistakes, and uses a related picture every time, often made by him.

Spelling and Grammar
All the time I've been reading the posts and pages, I have not yet found one mistake. Of course, there could be one lurking somewhere, but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack! The grammar is superb too!

Pages
The pages are a real highlight to the site. Although, the name makes you wonder if there is anything but news, but this just might be news to you, as there are fabulous pages to spend hours and hours looking at! There are Doctor Who episode guides, where you can learn about every single episode there has been from the new series, including the Children In Need special, Time Crash! The synopsis for each story is written in the owner's words. All of these are presented neatly and clearly, and have a picture from the episode. There are sometimes more than one, on stories that need more to be said. The Sarah Jane Adventures guides seem to have more information on than the Doctor Who ones at the moment, with a synopsis, again written by Brad, Cast, Information and a very interesting bit about continuity, which gives you fantastic bits of facts and information based around the episode. New guides for both sections are posted very near after the episode has finished broadcast. There are a few magazine pages, with Doctor Who and Torchwood Magazine, plus Doctor Who Adventures. These show you the covers of the latest issues, and when clicking on them, guide you back to the original site to give you all the information about the issue. There are a good selection of websites on the links pages, but, apart from the official sites, are the only sites linking back to Brad's. I think the highlight to the pages might have to be 'The Creatures of Skaro'! It is a fan-fiction story, written by Brad, all by himself, and comes out with very detailed, intriguing stories. They are extremely professional, and are fantastic reads. At the time of writing there have been three stories, and each one is different. They are all about the Daleks, and the latest one features the potato-faced menaces from Sontar, the Sontarans! Earlier this year, it was announced that there was to be a site reviewer page. Unfortunately, after just one review, the page shut down due to Brad's busy life. This was a shame because the first one of these, Tardis Base was fantastic! To fill in for this loss, though, are new upcoming pages, like Torchwood episode guides, which follow on from two previous successful pages, and Character guides, which should give you a good look into many faces from Doctor Who! These will be great once put on the site. The pages are neatly displayed across the top of the page, under the banner, but over the posts. This makes it easy to see, so you can you can find and visit them without trouble.

Sidebar
The sidebar at The Doctor Who News Blog is pretty short, but is good, as it does not look messy. At the top, it gives you information about the next episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures in the UK. These have a picture from the episode to look more colourful and better. Plus there is sometime a feature at the top, to tell you something that you can visit on the site. At the moment, it is their 'The Last Sontaran' episode guide, which you can visit by clicking the picture. There is a gadget showing the followers of the site, and has gained a very respectable amount already! There is a chat box (cbox), that seems to keep going wrong at the moment, but a new one is put up afterwards, an archive for older news, a facebook link, where you can join TDWNB's facebook group and a link to a friend's site. These are a few great things for the sidebar!

Other Features
Banner; The Banners of The Doctor Who News Blog, are always fantastically edited and radiant. The main one had the logo, nice and big, so was clear, with the words 'Bringing you the latest news from Doctor Who', with the Doctor next to the Tardis on the right, with a lightning background. This worked very well. Lately, it has been changed for The Sarah Jane Adventures. It is the same as the last one, except that there is a new, starry background, and now, instead of the Doctor, there is a Sontaran.

atts key suggestions
Can't think of anything, but I have to put something, so;
  • A few more features in the sidebar
  • Different banners for different parts of the site
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
The Doctor Who News Blog is an amazing site, which should definitely be on any Whovian's things-to-do list! There is so much to read and do, it's a friendly atmosphere and is well structured.

Owner
Apart from in the posts, the owner doesn't get to interact with visitors much. The cbox has recently been taken down, so to try and get more comments on posts. It looks like this isn't working much yet, as not many posts get comments. But in the posts, the words that are used seem to talk to the visitor, which makes them feel welcome to the site. At the moment, the owner cannot here thoughts and comments that visitors may want to share. At the top of the sidebar, though, is a welcome sign, which is also quite warming.

Layout
The layout for The Bad Wolf TV is very colourful and effective. It draws you to the site nicely, and keeps its audience's attention. It is satisfying and simple, but sometimes some of the colours make it hard to read.

News Posts
The news posts are updated quite regularly on the main page. Although, not all news is posted, the owner comes up with a wonderful selection. Most are written in the owner's words and are posted in rich colours. Mostly red and white, and sometimes purple. They are written in such a way that readers feel like the site is talking to them, so attracts the visitors to read them. Most posts are headed with a related picture. Sometimes, the pictures are made by the owner themselves, which look great. Sometimes, however, it is not completely clear what are quotes and what are the owner's words. Despite the fact that the site brings up great posts, I might like to see a little more content. But I might be a little to early to say this, as I'm still not sure whether some things are quotes or not.

Spelling and Grammar
All posts are written in good spelling and grammar. You might have to go a long way to find one major mistake, at least! This makes it easy to read, so it is not too taxing for the reader.

Pages
I have found two pages on the site at the moment. They are and Avatars page and a Wallpapers page. The owner has made all the pictures, and some of them are really good, and quite a lot of effort has gone into making them! It doesn't say whether you can use these or not, but I presume you can if you give credit. Maybe there should be notices on these pages explaining what you can do with them. The pages are linked near enough to the top of the sidebar to see them clearly, under the header, 'The Bad Wolf TV Stuff", so you can access the easily, without too much effort. It would be nice to see a few more pages being made and put on the site, because it has definitely got potential!

Sidebar
There are some good choices of items in The Bad Wolf TV's sidebar. There is one main problem, in which I'll get onto a bit lower down, after I've said what there is. At the top, is the site's Welcome! sign, with a delightful short comment from the owner, aimed towards visitors, to feel appreciated. Under this, which is very helpful, is the owner's email address, which you are able to use for any queries or comments regarding the site. Two gadgets to show how many visitors are online at the present time, and the site's visitor count. Under this are the page links and a comment about the removed cbox. One of the great things on the sidebar is the "Stuff of the Week", which has the character, quote and episode of that week, which is a nice fun thing! There are polls and poll results, as well as recommended websites, Next Time trailers and website awards (which the site has been awarded a lot of. Congratulations!). The main problem, unfortunately, is that, although all the colours are really pretty, and I agree that they are, but some of the colours just make the writing really hard to see on the sidebar. Mainly red and light purple. You have to strain your eyes, or tilt the computer screen to read it properly. I think it is mainly the purple background of the lower part.

Other Features
Banner; The Banner shows all three side to the Whouniverse. It has the Sarah Jane Adventures gang, the Torchwood team, and all the friends from the end of last series of Doctor Who who came back, all in three groups. They are cut out into a black background, which is quite effective! The logo stands out really well, and looks good!
Music Player; At the bottom of the page, there is a music player, so you can listen to Doctor Who-related music to liven your stay, while you look around. You can choose what to listen to.
At the bottom of the page is a picture of various new series characters from Doctor Who, as well as the site's followers. Remember to follow if you want to be up to date with the latest news!

atts key suggestions
  • Possibly put the cbox back up, because it is hard to chat on posts!
  • Change colours in sidebar, so it's easier to see and read!
  • Make quotes in posts more clear.
  • More pages?
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
This is a bright and colourful site with brilliant posts all about latest Doctor Who news. A few things need to be moderated though, and then it will be even better!

Owner
Unfortunately, the owner of Tardis Newsroom does not get to interact with the site's visitors all that much. I see that the whole point of the site is to give you ALL the latest news that there could be, and it definitely does! This means that, as it is used as a fantastic reference to all things Who, the posts aren't written in the owner's words. I'm not trying to say that they are supposed to be though, as the site wouldn't be what it is. The only communication is the site's cbox, which is well hidden near the bottom of the sidebar. Even that isn't in much use a lot of the time! There wouldn't be much point in commenting on posts though, as there are so many new posts every day. I can see what the owner wants the site to be and it works very well!

Layout
The layout for Tardis Newsroom is a plain blue feel. Nothing too special or fancy, making it nice and easy to understand with no distractions, but could maybe be a bit boring at times.

News Posts
The whole point of the site, I think, is to fill it with as much news and information as possible, becoming a fantastic reference site. I'm am still very puzzled as to where they find all the news! It's amazing! This site has ALL, I mean ALL the news you could ever want! Of course, I don't think you are meant to read the whole of the posts, but are there as a reference, so you can see them, and then know certain amounts about the story. Links are clearly put to the site that it came from, under the main part of the post, so you know where the information is coming from, and can also read it on the main website, which it came from. A lot of the time, there are posts which contain various different stories. Very short, compiled into one post, but with links in them. Also with these, a lot of the time, come clever, witty post titles, like "Last Sontaran, the seeing I, Dalek image winner and another impossible podcast"

Spelling and Grammar
Well, as no posts are written in the owner's words, it's a little hard to talk about this topic, but the other sites, at least, use good spelling and grammar! Well... occasionally, if it's not the Sun!

Pages
The are no pages, at least, for the site, but the owner does run loads of other related sites, which is again, amazing, because of the effort but in! Like Tardis Newsroom, there are spin-off sites, Torchwood Newsroom and Sarah Jane Newsroom, also full with the latest reports. Tardis Scanner seems to be the main one, packed with more than you could ask for! I would recommend having a look! These other links are displayed near to the top of the sidebar.

Sidebar
The sidebar is absolutely crammed with so much news and information about every topic, from Actor to Merchandise, and from other news on other websites, to a review round-up. It's amazing! It's all updated, usually by matters of blogrolls. Plus at the moment on the top, there is a next time feature, showing the trailer for this year's Christmas Special, The Next Doctor, plus a 'Featured Site', that changes regularly. Below that is the archive for the site, but at the moment for me it doesn't seem to work very well, and doesn't go to the page you want!

Other Features
Banner; The Banner at this time in the year changes quite a lot. It often shows promotional pictures, screen captions and other pictures. At the moment it shows one of the classic series versions of the Tardis, with, what looks like to be, an alien planet in the background. The title is always very simple, and has colours that go with the banner at that stage. Unfortunately, though, the title is a bit blurry, so looks slightly untidy.
Next Episode Countdown; There is usually a countdown to the next episode of Doctor Who, under the banner, but not one embedded from another site, so looks professional and great!
Series 4 Poll; At the time of writing, there is a fourth series poll for Doctor Who, and looks very colourful, so remember to vote when visiting!
Tardis Scanner Link; There is a linked picture for their main site, Tardis Scanner.
Tardis Viewscreen; At the bottom of the page is a viewscreen, showing a fun slideshow of merchandise, either out already, or upcoming, with the title of the product
Tardis Webring; Shown at the very bottom of the page.

atts suggestions
  • Maybe more interaction with visitors?
  • Probably not a new layout, but maybe an update?
  • I might suggest moving the cbox further up the sidebar, so more people can see it an comment.
  • Nothing much else!
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
This is an amazing site for what it's trying to achieve, which is loads and loads of news, but maybe not classified as a 'fan site', but more for reference.

The rating is very difficult, as it's different to other fan made sites. For the effort and what it's trying to achieve, a definite 10/10, but does not have the features of a fan site. So, I'm going to give a different rating this time;

Review

Owner
The owner of Doctor Who Fans is always attentive on the site's cbox, making visitors feel welcome all the time. They are respectable in all news posts as well, making the site feel warming to guests.

Layout
The layout for Doctor Who Fans has recently been changed and is now delightful to look at. It makes it easy to see what you need to know in a very professional and colourful way, with all the brilliant pictures in the sidebar. The main colour scheme is nice green, with a bit of grey and dark orange.

News Posts
Regularly updates news posts make up the main page of the site. These can be normal Doctor Who related news, or some can be information about the site and its pages. It is all written in the owner's own words and is always understandable, making them enjoyable to read. All posts contain a related picture to attract the viewer to various different pieces of information. Not all news that the Who world spills out is put up, but most main news is.

Spelling and Grammar
All text is written using great English spelling and grammar, finding it very hard to spot just one mistake, throughout the whole site. The text is informative and detailed, making information easy to take in.

Pages
Links can be found to the site's pages in the top of the sidebar, on the right of the site. They are marked clearly, so is not too challenging, hopefully attracting more visitors to the pages. You notice them as soon as you come on, which is great, as they are definitely one of the highlights. Pages avaliable when this is being written are About the Owner, Site Reviewer, Games, Links and Fan Fiction. Unfortunately on these pages, there aren't any pictures or banners, and on the sidebar, there are headings without anything under them, which looks a bit untidy. But I think these might still be moderated. At the moment there is one game, Who Said What?, where you have to guess which character said the quote. There are various different website links in the links page, which would be good to look at, but the Fan Fictions are fantastic. These will keep you occupied for a while reading, because they are very long, which is brilliant! New pages will be put up soon, including Episode Guides to Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Sidebar
There's a nice selection of stuff in the sidebar. At the top you have the Pages clearly marked. The banner has not yet been added to the site, because there has been a little trouble putting it up, so the pictures for the next episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures gives the site a spot of colour. This gives you the data you need to know, if you've forgotten the next episodes. The blog archive gives you the option to go back and see earlier posts, while there is a gadget to tell you how many people are on the site at the time you are looking at it! You can talk in the cbox to other Whovians and become a follower to check up on new posts!

Other Features
Banner; The Banner at this time is not up yet.

atts suggestions
  • Banner needs to be put up
  • A little work on the pages to make them look and feel more satisfying, plus maybe the main page?
  • More Features on the main page
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
I think this is a splendid site with strong potential when completely finished.

Owner
The owner of whoviavortex always kind and welcomes visitors, and also chats in the site's cbox. The owner also puts information about the site in the cbox, to inform people of what's to come in the future of the site. They have a welcome sign at the top of the site and the words the owner uses in the posts, always makes the visitor feel as if they are always welcome. Having a great interaction between guests and owner is always great for a site!

Layout
The layout at this time is smart, simple and effective, which makes the website easy to read, so, not distracting visitors or looking messy. The colour scheme is a greeny-blue, and goes well with everything on the site. The banner, posts and pictures on the sidebar make the site colourful and pleasant to look at.

News Posts
The main page of the site is devoted to the latest news surrounding Doctor Who and its spin-offs. It is updated when the owner can, and comes out with delightful posts. Although not all news is posted on the site, much of the main news is quick to be put on, making it a reliable source of top news. The posts are always written in the owner's own words, and when quotes are taken, it is all clearly marked. One suggestion may be that there could be a little more content to the posts.

Spelling and Grammar
All text is mainly written using good English spelling and grammar, finding it quite hard to find a mistake, throughout the whole site. It is also always written in a satisfying, original tone, which does not make it hard to read, so is, therefore, a joy to read.

Pages
Along the sidebar there are many links to other pages of the site, including episode guides and galleries, showing pictures from the last four series of Doctor Who. There are three main pages, apart from the main one; whoviavortextra, Torchwood, Gallery and Fun Box. These are all linked off in all different sorts of ways, although sometimes, not very clear to see on the main page sidebar.

Sidebar
There is lots of information packed into the site's sidebar. At the top, you can see a clever logo, with one half the normal Doctor Who logo, while the other is a silver one, underneath the words 'welcome to whoviavortex'. This works nicely at the top of the page. Under that you can see the next episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures that will be broadcast, with times and dates. This is great if you can't remember the next time one of them is on! The cbox is kept nicely moderated, with a chat option built in. The owner says hello to new visitors, brings out new site information and chats on it a lot. There is usually a poll running, and site pages are linked. There is a guide to all episodes of Doctor Who, with the whole of Series 4, and a few others with links to complete episode guides. At the bottom is a series of links, categorized under various headings. So there's lots of things to keep you busy here.

Other Features
Banner; The Banner at the time of writing is a fantastic colourful banner, promoting the first episode of the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, The Last Sontaran. It has pictures of a new Sontaran, and old one, the SJA logo, a Sontaran battleship and the logo. Although the logo could be made a little bigger for everyone to see what page they're looking at!
Music Player; At the bottom of the page, there is a music player, so you can listen to Doctor Who-related music to liven your stay, while you look around. You can choose what to listen to.
Next Time; There is usually a next time countdown at the top of the page to the start of either the next Doctor Who, Torchwood or The Sarah Jane Adventures.

atts suggestions
  • More content to posts
  • Posts more often
  • Pictures with the next broadcast episodes at the top of the sidebar
  • Tidy up site pages, to make them more visible to see on the homepage
  • Make the logo on the banner a bit bigger!
Note - these are only suggestions, which you may or may not want to take into account.

Overall
I think this is great site if you want the latest top news, with information from the Who-universe, while having a friendly chat and listening to some top music!
